Impacts of raindrops increase particle sedimentation in a sheet flow

چکیده

Interrill erosion is driven by raindrops and sheet flow. Raindrop impacts cause sediment detachment splash, but can also affect flow transport. Even if these processes have been studied for long, the actual effect of raindrop on particle settling velocities has not experimentally assessed. This leads to unconstrained adjustments in soil models, velocity particles being a freely adjustable parameter allowing better fitting flux measured at outlet. To address flow, laboratory flume experiment was designed, using an upstream feeder (100–200 μm) simulated rainfalls. It reproduced conditions close while from bottom. Two series experiments were run: with high rainfall intensity (175 mm/h) generated oscillating-nozzle simulator, lower intensities (10, 15, 25, 35, 55 drop-former simulator. When applied, it systematically decreased concentration outflow compared no rain condition; however, obvious relationship found intensity. shows that increase underlying mechanisms are suggested, related momentum or turbulence caused into Further studies should be carried out, computational fluid dynamics collaboration mechanics community.

Particle Acceleration in a Folded Current Sheet

Two-dimensional particle simulations of a relativistic Harris current sheet of pair (e ±) plasmas have demonstrated that the system is unstable to the rela-tivistic drift kink instability and that a new kind of acceleration process takes place in the deformed current sheet. This process contributes to the generation of non-thermal particles and contributes to the fast magnetic dissipation in th...

Non-equilibrium pattern selection in particle sedimentation

In this paper, we explain some well known experimental observations in fluid solid interaction from a thermodynamic perspective. In particular we use the extremum of the rate of entropy production to establish the stability of specific patterns observed in single and multiparticle sedimentation in an infinite fluid and the sedimentation of spheres in the presence of walls. While these phenomena...

Sedimentation from particle-bearing plumes in a stratified ambient

Laboratory experiments are performed to examine the sedimentation of particles that initially rise in a plume, then spread radially and settle in uniformly stratified fluid. Using light attenuation, the depth of the sediment bed is measured nonintrusively as a function of radius from the center of the plume. To gain some insight into these dynamics, an idealized model is developed by adapting w...
